Abstract

The development of our cities is the cause of more than 70 % of the production of CO2 and has a significant impact on the environment. The consequences of these forms of “development” are already present and will increase in the following decades. The reduction of their impact depends on several factors, among them,
the incorporation of energy as a possibility in architecture and urban planning, in order to be used as a general tool for all infrastructure. Under this criterion, incorporated energy can become a new starting point, formulating questions regarding traditional architectural and urban planning approaches based on new material and social priorities.
