Publication Norms
GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS
Submissions must be unpublished and original. They must be written clearly and coherently, adhering to basic spelling and grammar rules in the chosen language. All submissions must meet the following characteristics:
Articles written in Spanish and English will be processed. Submissions must be sent in.doc or .docx (Microsoft Word) format with the following specifications:
- Format: single column layout
- Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
- Line spacing: 1.5 (one and a half)
- Text alignment: justified
- Margins: top: 3.0 cm, bottom: 2.5 cm, left: 3.0 cm, right: 2.0 cm
- If tables or figures are used, they must be presented in sequential order with descriptive titles and source citations. The presentation must follow the latest APA style guidelines. For optimal layout, submit visual elements as follows:
- Photos: .jpg or.tiff format with 300-pixel resolution.
- Figures: Submit original files in the software format used to create them.
- Tables: If included as images in the document, submit original Microsoft Excel files.
Submissions must be made through the journal’s online platform through this link. Authors must create an account on the journal’s website before submitting manuscripts.
When submitting manuscripts, authors must consider the commitments and ethical standards outlined in the journal’s Code of Ethics. Include any supplementary materials deemed useful for evaluation or provide links to repositories where such materials are located.
Note: Preprints are accepted according to the characteristics specified in the policy found in the ”About the Journal” section.
SUBMISSION COMPONENTS
- Title (Spanish and English): The title must accurately reflect the work’s content. It should be concise, with only the initial letter of the first word and proper nouns capitalized.
- Author Information and Affiliation. Include the full names and surnames of authors in order of participation. Each author must specify ORCID number, email address, and complete institutional affiliation (institution, department, city, country in original language). For example, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Institute of Biomedical Research, Department of Pediatrics, Mexico City, Mexico. The corresponding author and email address must be clearly identified.
- Abstract (Spanish and English): Present an abstract containing the objective, methodology, and conclusions in a maximum of 150 words.
- Keywords (Spanish and English). Provide a maximum of six keywords or phrases to facilitate database searches. Consult the following sources for appropriate terms: SERBIULA, UNBIS, and AGROVOC.
- Contributions have a maximum length of 6,000 words and must contain an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and/or conclusions. Each subheading must be clearly differentiated using numerical designations. In-text citations must use the format (author, year) following the APA style.
- Funding Source: If the research received funding, indicate the institution’s name and funding code.
- Acknowledgments: Record acknowledgments to research collaborators. If acknowledgments could compromise the neutrality of peer review, the information should be omitted at submission and included only in the final version if the article is accepted for publication.
- Conflict of Interest Statement: Indicate whether there is or has been any conflict of interest that influenced this manuscript (see format guidelines).
- Authorship Contribution Declaration (CRediT): Specify each author’s contribution during the research development process. To be listed as an author, individuals must meet the following requirements: a. Research Development: substantial contribution to research conception, methodological design, fieldwork execution, data collection, and data analysis; b. Writing: active participation in manuscript preparation and writing; c. Review: critical review and final approval of the manuscript version submitted for publication.
- Authors should consider their contributions across all major sections, including the introduction, methodology, discussion, and conclusions. Author contributions should be placed at the end of the article under the title “Author Contributions,” specifying each author’s role according to the CRediT criteria (see format guidelines).
- Bibliographic References: References must appear at the end of the article in alphabetical order, following the latest APA style guidelines.
- Author Biography: In no more than six lines, each collaborator must indicate the following: academic degrees or titles, institutional affiliation, name and country, current position or function, and relevant publications, if any.
Copyright
Once an article has been approved for publication, authors must submit a signed Letter of Assignment of Rights and Declaration of Originality. This document confirms that the submitted work has not been published or accepted by another journal and authorizes the Editorial Fund of the University of Lima to publish the article in electronic format.
All works are published in the journal’s electronic edition under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Authors are free to share, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format, provided they acknowledge its initial publication in this journal.
