Journal Process and Policy

Editorial process

  • Proposal:Articles for all sections are submitted through a registration form, which includes the author's information, academic affiliation, ORCID code, and a summary of the proposed article. Articles can be submitted in Spanish or English. Foreign words should be italicized.
  • Submissions: The material to be submitted includes the article in Word format (according to format specifications below), the image package in a compressed folder, a simple affidavit from the author declaring originality (in case image rights belong to third parties, authorization for image use must be included). The document and graphic material files must be uploaded to the system indicating the section to which you are applying (Thematic Call, Permanent Call, or Digital Dossier). For submissions, please visit the following address:  https://revistas.ulima.edu.pe/index.php/Limaq/about/submissions
  • Evaluation process: Papers that meet the established guidelines will be anonymously reviewed by two evaluators (double-blind peer-review system) who will provide their observations and recommendations, if any, for possible improvement. Based on the reviewers' observations, the journal editor will communicate the motivated result of the evaluation to the lead author. The author will be notified of this decision according to one of the following ratings:

      • Accepted without modifications
      • Accepted with minor modifications
      • Accepted with significant modifications and a new evaluation
      • Not approved

The author will have seven days to submit a revised version of the article that addresses the evaluator’s comments. The new file should demonstrate the modifications made anonymously.

If the judgments are inconclusive (one positive and another negative), a third reviewer will be called upon. The third evaluator’s opinion will determine whether the work should be published or not. Once the decision is made, it will be communicated to the lead author. Reviewers' opinions are final and cannot be appealed.

The editor is responsible for selecting reviewers based on the following criteria: their expertise in the thematic area or publications related to the topic. The editor responsible for the issue will review the thematic relevance and compliance with the editorial standards mentioned above. The evaluation system will focus on four fundamental aspects: importance of the contribution to the disciplinary field and knowledge of the topic; its methodological quality and theoretical foundations; clarity in writing; and a critical judgment involved in the results and conclusion of the piece. Authors whose works do not meet these criteria will be informed of the decision, and their texts will not proceed to the next phase of the editorial process.

  • Policy for articles published ahead of print: Limaq has an ahead of print section that gathers accepted works awaiting to be included in upcoming printed issues. Articles in this section are considered published and can be referenced using their DOI identifier. The ahead of print version and the final version of the article will differ only in information related to issue number, pagination, and specific layout features from the printed version.
  • Authorization: Once the article is approved, it will undergo a style correction stage. Editorial Staff and proof-readers may introduce or suggest formal or stylistic modifications during the review process. For publication, authors must verify and authorize the final layout of the article. For this purpose, they will be sent the PDF version.
