The loss of ties and the dissolution of the subject in Cuentos de Extremo Occidente by Rodolfo Hinostroza

This essay studies the dissolution of the modern subject in the stories of Cuentos de Extremo Occidente by Rodolfo Hinostroza. For this, we addressed a constitutive element of the concept of the subject: the loss of autonomy, be it due to chance, the sensation of living in a constantly changing world, simulations, or the weakening of the will. Likewise, we analyzed the absence of links with spatial and time referents, represented by the loss of future projects, both personal and social, and the weakening of memory. All of this ultimately leads to the dissolution of the identities of these characters.
