Good Practices in Open Science
The Ingeniería Industrial journal, committed to promoting spaces that facilitate free and open access to scientific knowledge, has implemented the following policies regarding content availability:
- Post-Print Deposit Policies
These policies promote the dissemination of academic knowledge in a transparent manner while ensuring proper recognition of the original source. These guidelines support a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange within the scientific community. When sharing research on other platforms, authors must ensure compliance with the necessary attribution standards. Authors who have submitted manuscripts to Ingeniería Industrial may deposit post-print versions in academic repositories after their articles have undergone peer review and been published. Proper attribution to Ingeniería Industrial as the original source is required.
- Data Availability and Processing Policy
In alignment with our commitment to promote transparency and reproducibility in research, the Ingeniería Industrial journal encourages the availability of data associated with published articles. This practice enables other researchers to replicate presented studies, facilitating validation and comparative analysis of results. Authors submitting contributions are encouraged to make research data available in appropriate repositories, such as FigShare, Mendeley Data, or Zenodo, prior to article submission. This measure ensures data availability to the academic community from the moment of publication and promotes good practices in data management. Authors are recommended to use and reuse formats that facilitate data accessibility. For tabular data, spreadsheet formats are suggested. Additionally, when relevant, authors should provide algorithms or procedures (pipelines) necessary for proper data interpretation.
- Preprint Policy
As per the editorial policy, the journal authorizes and encourages authors to deposit manuscripts on certified preprint servers to increase publicity, transparency, and speed in disseminating research findings, contributing to open science consolidation.
A preprint is defined as the publication of an article version before or parallel to formal peer review submission in a scientific journal, made available by the author on recognized preprint servers such as SciELO Preprint. Essentially, it is a manuscript draft before evaluation by other researchers (Vasconcellos & De-Lorenzi, 2020).
Authors are advised to verify the reliability of preprint servers, as manuscripts will not be considered preprints if made available on non-certified sites.
