The idea of God in the poetry of Cesar Vallejo and Martin Adan

The purpose of this text is to account for the idea of God in the poetic works of Peruvian authors Cesar Vallejo (1892-1938) and Martin Adan (1908-1985). This idea is present throughout their collections of poems. In the case of Vallejo, the idea of God is marked by human characteristics, mainly of a negative nature, which the poet attributes to divinity and by the degree of confrontation he has with it in Los heraldos negros, Trilce and Poemas humanos. Likewise, a kind of harmony with divinity stands out in España, aparta de mí este cáliz. In the case of Martin Adan, the idea of God is also present, but with two different attitudes. The first, following Christian tradition, can be found in the initial poems grouped under the title Itinerario de primavera up to Travesía de extramares. Sonetos a Chopin. The second falls far from that tradition. Finally, we present the similarities and differences in the appropriation of the idea of God in the works of both authors.
