Editorial process

Original and unpublished manuscripts submitted to the conference should undergo a three-stage evaluation process.

II) Review process by the Program Chair or Editor in Chief

In the first stage, the Program Chair or Editor in Chief reviews the content to determine whether the manuscript is aligned with the scope and complies with the guide for authors. If the manuscript is not accepted, it is returned to the corresponding author, detailing the reasons for the editorial decision.

If the manuscript is accepted by the Program Chair, it is sent to external reviewers who are experts in the research topic.

II) Peer-review process

This second stage follows to a double-blind peer review, where the reviewer and the author are anonymous.

The reviewer evaluates the content of the manuscript and, based on his/her experience and knowledge, issues one of the following recommendations:

  1. The manuscript is accepted without changes or with minor modifications.
  2. The manuscript is accepted, conditioned to perform major changes in accordance with the reviewer's comments. The corrected version of the manuscript should be approved in a second round review.
  3. The manuscript is not accepted because of the limited contributions of the study or other considerations reported by the reviewer.

Based on the comments issued by the reviewers, the editorial decision should be informed to the corresponding author, who has a certain deadline according to the congress scheduled to submit a modified version of the manuscript (recommendation 1 and 2). If the article is not accepted (recommendation 3), the Program Chair will provide the reasons for his decision.

Once the reviewers receive the corrected manuscript, they have a certain deadline according to the congress scheduled to report the result of their evaluation, issuing a final recommendation. Once the Program Chair receives the second round of reviews, he/she takes a new decision on the manuscript and notifies the corresponding author.

Any objection of corresponding author on the Program Chair's decision or on the reviewers' comments will be resolved by the Program Members Board or Scientific committee as the ultimate instance.

The Conference adheres to the criteria established in the "Guidelines on Good Publication Practice" of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which endorses sanctioning procedures in cases of plagiarism.

III) Paper publication

CIIS 2023 will publish the articles approved by the Program Director and Committee Members, taking into consideration the following points:

  • Approved papers will be published in the portal of the Systems Engineering Congress Proceedings. The publications will be arranged in a series identified with ISSN 2810-806X (online) and ISBN approved by the Peruvian National Library.
  • Papers will have a single identification number based on the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) System. The DOI is managed by Crossref, so papers are easy to find, cite, link and reuse.
  • Payment of a fee to register one of the speakers is required to consider including one or more papers in the Congress Proceedings. The aforementioned payment does not cover the expenses related to the editorial process and publication of the articles, as these services are provided free of charge.
  • At least one author of the selected article must attend the congress, as well as present and discuss their contribution following the indications provided by the CIIS 2023 organizing committee.
  • The authors with the best articles will be invited to prepare and submit extended versions to be considered, after a new peer review, for publication in the digital magazine Interfases which is indexed in CrossRef, Dialnet, Latindex y DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals.
  • The portal of the Systems Engineering Congress Proceedings. meets the criteria set forth in the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which defines the scope, duties, responsibilities and procedures for action in situations of investigative misconduct.

Note. The Interfases journal and the portal of the CIIS Proceedings are edited by the University of Lima and are indexed in Open Access Theses and Dissertations, Open Doar, BASE, Worldcat, Core.uk, Google scholar, ALICIA-Concytec, La Referencia, OpenAIRE.eu.
