Abstract

Aim: To analyze the degree of global homogeneity and local adaptation of Multi-Family Offices (MFOs), identifying conceptual, structural, and contextual patterns, with a focus on Latin America. Methodology: A systematic literature review was conducted, complemented by a bibliometric analysis of 29 articles indexed in Scopus and other databases, examining research trends, leading authors, academic networks, and dominant theoretical approaches. Results: The evidence shows that this is a recent and fragmented field, with a predominance of qualitative studies focused on typologies, governance, and financial services. A trend toward global structural convergence among MFOs is observed; however, it coexists with significant local adaptations, particularly in Latin America, where factors such as interpersonal trust, family influence, and institutional context shape their configuration. Socioemotional wealth emerges as a key determinant, although it remains insufficiently operationalized. Originality/value: This study integrates bibliometric analysis with theoretical frameworks such as institutional isomorphism and socioemotional wealth, proposing a dual perspective of homogeneity and adaptation in MFOs. Practical implications: The findings highlight the need to develop multidimensional metrics and to design hybrid value propositions that integrate financial services with socioemotional dimensions. Social implications: The study contributes to understanding the role of MFOs in preserving family wealth and their impact on economic stability and intergenerational continuity.
