The article examines the coherence of the regulation of joint obligations in the Peruvian Civil Code, comparing its application across different areas of the Code in order to determine whether a conceptual inconsistency exists. To that end, it explores the historical and doctrinal origins of joint obligations, tracing their development from the European ius commune to their codification in modern legal systems, and analyzes their specific applications within Peruvian legislation throughout various codification stages. The ultimate goal is to identify potential inconsistencies and propose solutions aimed at ensuring normative coherence within the Peruvian legal system.
