Aim: Determine the impact of the DMAIC methodology on improving the efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity of the compound sheet manufacturing process in a company within the tire industry. Methodology: The study adopted a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design. The DMAIC methodology was implemented through its five phases: define, measure, analyze, improve, and control, using continuous improvement tools such as SIPOC, Ishikawa diagram, the five whys technique, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Statistical analysis included the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and Student’s t-test for related samples. Results: The results showed an improvement in productivity from 61% to 71%, as well as an average reduction of 1.12 minutes in compound code changeover time after the implementation of DMAIC. In addition, estimated economic savings of S/ 6262 were achieved. Differences between the pretest and posttest were statistically significant (p < 0.001). Originality/value: This research expands the evidence on the application of DMAIC in the Latin American manufacturing industry, specifically in the Peruvian tire sector, through a quasi-experimental design aimed at evaluating improvements in productivity and operational efficiency. Practical implications: The findings demonstrate that the DMAIC methodology can be used as an effective tool to increase productivity, reduce non-productive times, and improve process standardization in manufacturing companies within the tire industry. Furthermore, it provides an applicable guideline for decision-making focused on continuous improvement and operational efficiency. Social implications: Improvements in productivity and the reduction of non-productive times contribute to strengthening operational sustainability and industrial competitiveness, generating positive impacts on the efficiency of the manufacturing sector and the responsible use of resources.
