How covid-19 trends have changed in México with vaccination and the virus variants?
Abstract
The preventive capacity of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine has been, without a doubt, the Mexican health system's most desired objective in recent times. Seeking, and to a large extent achieving, to reduce the number of sick and deceased due to the pandemic, it helped the recovery of companies, the economy, and job generation.
However, COVID-19 variants can delay the desired effect due to their viral nature. In this context, the statistical analyses presented in this article show that vaccines have decreased infections and deaths since the massive start of their application in February 2021. They also suggest that the age structure of those infected has changed since more young people were affected. Concerning sex, the trends in the number of deaths have been stable. However, the mortality rate of the elderly rose much more than that of the younger population.
