Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in Diverse Contexts: Fostering Motivation, Psychological Needs, and Well-Being

Persona, the journal of the School of Psychology at Universidad de Lima, publishes theoretical, methodological, and empirical articles in Spanish, Portuguese, and English on psychology as both a discipline and a profession. It covers a range of approaches and applied fields, providing a dynamic space for research.

The journal is published biannually and this call for papers is for the Special Issue 28(2), to be published in December 2025. Persona is indexed in Latindex, Dialnet, Redalyc, DOAJ, and Psicodoc.

Key Research Topics

Studies on motivation in the following contexts:
• How interventions by social agents—teachers, leaders, parents, coaches—affect basic psychological needs.
• How contexts support or hinder autonomy, competence, and connection, including differences between maternal and paternal influences.
• Mechanisms and outcomes of autonomous and controlled motivation across various settings.
• Longitudinal, experimental, and cross-cultural studies on SDT-related variables.
• Innovative methodologies or studies involving underrepresented populations that address gaps in the literature.
