In this article, the author examines the recent evolution of structured financings in Peru, with a special focus on the agricultural sector, which
has shifted from limited access to credit to becoming a priority destination for both domestic banks and international capital. The discussion highlights the growing use of sophisticated contractual structures, climate risk coverage mechanisms, and the so-called “Niño Clauses.” It also addresses the particularities of agricultural collateral —such as land, plantations, and patented varieties—, current trends in loan covenant
negotiations amid expectations of lower interest rates, and the impact of the implementation of the SIGM on financing in the fishing industry.
