A lo largo de su formación académica, el ingeniero industrial aprende diversas y potentes herramientas que le permiten resolver problemas relevantes en el ámbito operativo, táctico y estratégico de las empresas de bienes y servicios. De esa manera, aporta soluciones creativas y sostenibles para las organizaciones y así satisfacer las necesidades de sus clientes y mejorar sus indicadores de gestión.
En tal contexto, investigadores de México, Cuba, Ecuador, Brasil y Perú han realizado recientes investigaciones con resultados que agregan valor en diversas ramas del conocimiento de la Ingeniería Industrial, tales como: en gestión de la producción, con una propuesta para mejorar la gestión de los inventarios y estudios sobre la cadena de suministros verde; en calidad y medio ambiente, con hallazgos interesantes para mejorar la satisfacción del cliente en empresas de servicios y también con una propuesta innovadora donde se aplica la inteligencia artificial en un sistema de gestión de la calidad ISO 9001:2015; en ingeniería de negocios, con los hallazgos de la perspectiva de un producto estrella en la agroindustria; en proyectos empresariales, con un estudio prospectivo del sector en la industria del cobre; finalmente, en ciencia y tecnología, a través del aprovechamiento sostenible de la capirona en la industria maderera.
Por lo tanto, en esta edición 45, presentamos a la comunidad científica aportes relevantes en diversas áreas de la ingeniería industrial, los cuales serán de gran contribución en conocimiento para las empresas de bienes y servicios. También, servirán de ejemplo en las acciones que se deben de tomar en el ámbito académico y futuras investigaciones.
Finalmente, agradezco a los autores de los artículos, al comité evaluador, al comité científico y a los editores por haber realizado un excelente trabajo y permitir así la presente edición de la revista.

FOREWORD
Throughout their academic training, industrial engineers learn various powerful tools that allow them to solve relevant problems in the operational, tactical, and strategic areas of consumer goods and service companies. In this way, they contribute creative and sustainable solutions to organizations, meet the needs of their clients, and improve their management indicators.
In this context, researchers from Mexico, Cuba, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru have conducted recent investigations with results that add value to various branches of Industrial Engineering: a proposal to improve inventory management and studies on the green supply chain both prove helpful for production management; interesting findings that improve customer satisfaction in service companies and an innovative proposal to apply artificial intelligence in an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system innovate in the areas of quality and environment; in business engineering, an Industrial Engineering collaborator shows exciting findings regarding a star product in agribusiness; a prospective study opens up new paths in business projects in the copper industry. Finally, a study of the sustainable use of capirona in the wood industry contributes both to science and technology.
This 45th edition of Industrial Engineering will significantly contribute to engineering knowledge and will serve as an example for scholarly research in the future.
